IOC confirms that the first transgender Olympic champion will be Laurel Hubbard

Some people tried to stop them, but the Tokyo Olympics will welcome New Zealand’s transgender weightlifting competitor.

43-year-old Laurel Hubbard will be the first transgender competitor at the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The New Zealander will be able to compete in the super heavyweight category despite the storm of controversy that preceded her to get the opportunity.
